Here are the guidelines that Kim gave us for this challenge.
I'd love to see something colourful... a photo that POPS....
Tuesday, February 5th's theme is Make it Pop... Color Pop that is....
Your image must contain at least one layer of my textures and it must POP.... red, green, pink... any pop of colour you wish to share..... Sound good?
Here is the photo that I decided to work on for this challenge.
Step 1. I opened the image in Photoshop CS6.
Step 2. Kim's texture minus 45 was the texture I decided to use. I like its warm color and thought it might make the red pop. Here is what kk_minus45 looks like at Normal Mode and 100% Opacity.
Then I changed the layer Blend Mode to Color Burn and kept Opacity at 100%.
This deepened the reds and darkened the background so that the red flowers pop a little.
Step 3. I thought that this was going in the right direction, so I duplicated ( Command / Control - J ) the layer for the next layer. I again used the same Blend Mode of Color Burn and Opacity 100%. A little bit of good used twice might make it even better. And, it did.
Step 4. Well . . . if it worked again, let's do it again. I duplicated the layer again . . . . . and kept the Color Burn Mode at 100% Opacity.
Step 5. I'm on a roll. Let's see what happens if I do it again. Again, I copied the texture layer and kept Mode of Color Burn and Opacity 100%.
I thought about trying it again, and I actually did try it; but, too much of a good thing is not always good. So this is where I stopped. I like the way the background darkened and the red flowers deepened in color and almost seems to pop off the page.
So this is my final image for this challenge.
I hope that you enjoyed seeing what I did for this challenge.
Live life to the fullest and enjoy.
