Kings and Queens
This week we are challenging you to create a collage featuring kings and/or queens. Use your imagination and show us your concept of royalty--it could involve people, animals, birds, chess pieces, playing cards, fantastic creatures...whatever!
I thought about this for a while. I had recently come across, on the Internet, a site that showed English coins. To limit the number of possible images for a layout, I decided to use the English coins that had the Queen on them.
Here is my entry for this week.
To create this, I used three of my freebie watercolors and blended them to give me the basic background for the layout. You can download many freebies from my blog by going there and clicking on the top menu "Freebies."
Then I added in some images that I extracted from the Visualizer in iTunes. The music was Herb Alpert's "Lonely Bull." This gave me the splats and squiggles on the background. Then I added the vertical strings of dots. All that created the background.
Next I created the overlapping circles in which the coins were placed. I actually only made one such image of overlapping circles. Then I used the Free Transform to resize and rotate them as needed. And, I used the Gradient Map Adjustment Layer to recolor them.
Then using text on circular paths, I entered the Queen's name and her dates. I also added in the title and subtitle.
Then I added in a Lens Correction Filter and gave the corners and edges a little vignette to darken them and lead the eye toward the central part of the layout.
And, that is how I did it.
Please go to Collage Obsession to see the wonderful entries that others have posted.
That's all for now.
Live life fully.
