Welcome to EarlK Design!

The EarlK Design blog consists mainly of entries that show how to do things using Adobe Photoshop that I hope you will find helpful and give your creative mind more tools to work with.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS6, and sometimes Adobe Illustrator CS5, Lightroom 5, and Corel Painter X. However, I believe that much of what I show can be done using Photoshop Elements.

Collage Obsession … 31 December 2013

Wishing you all a most HAPPY NEW YEAR.

For this week's challenge, Kaylene gave us this:

M is for MerrimentThis week's challenge is to take the meaning of merriment and create your own work of art from the following definition: "gaiety, fun or mirth"

Most of the merriment associated with my page was the merriment I had in creating it.

I normally do not use Adobe Illustrator very much, but for the last few days I have been going over some of my Illustrator classes and decided to use it to make parts of my layout. The layout was done in Adobe Photoshop CS6. I created some of the items in Illustrator CS5.1 and exported them into Photoshop.

Here is my page.

The flowers, butterflies, cloud and sun I created in Illustrator. I exported them into Photoshop for coloring and sizing. The flower in the upper left corner is a stamp I made in Photoshop. The design of squares and triangles is a Zentangle design I made in Photoshop. The background paper is one of my watercolor papers. The birds are a brush I have. I do not know where it came from. The dancing children are from one of the free downloads from Dover.

Be sure to visit Collage Obsession to see the other layouts that were created. If you haven't ever joined us for the weekly challenges, please do so and join in the fun.

That's all for now.

Live life fully and enjoy.

Collage Obsession 18 December 2013

For this week's Collage Obsession challenge, Tiffany gave us this:

THE CHALLENGE
This week's challenge is to take your favorite holiday and give it a STEAMPUNK makeover! Choose any holiday you like: Christmas, New Year's Eve/Day, Valentine's Day, etc…

I selected to use Valentine's Day. Here is my finished Steampunk effort. This style is not my normal style. I hope it is punk enough.

I am not sure what watches and gears have to do with Valentine's Day. But that does seem to be what you do with Steampunk.

The outer border is a modified version that came from Dover. I modified it to fit a 12 x 12-inch page and moved the central flower to the side. The gears and watches came from the Internet.

That's all for now.

Be sure to visit Collage Obsession to see the other entries.

Live life fully and enjoy.

Collage Obsession and Texture Tuesday . . . . . . . . . 10 December 2013

I will be using this same image for both Collage Obsession and Texture Tuesday this week.

For this week's Collage Obsession, Sherry gave us the following:

Season of Light

In the spirit of the holiday/winter season, this week's theme is "Season of Light." No matter where you live, and what kind of climate surrounds you at this time of year, there's a good chance that lights play a big part in your celebrations and traditions, even if it's simply enjoying a cozy fireplace on a cold day. So please incorporate "light" into your collage in some way.

And for this week's Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen we had another

Free & Easy Texture Tuesday

Here is my entry for both.

I used Kim Klassen's kk_felicity texture.

Please visit Collage Obsession and Texture Tuesday to see what others have done.

That's it for now.

Live life fully and enjoy.

Collage Obsession 2 December 2013

This week's Collage Obsession was posted by Linda. She gave us the following:

All Bundled up

It's just beginning to be winter here in Boston, but already folks have their down coats and fur lined hoods out.  And I'll bet most of us remember, as kids, being bundled up in snow pants and jackets and mittens and hats and scarves until we could hardly move. So that's our first wintry theme--All Bundled Up.

Here is entry for this week.

Pleases visit Collage Obsession and see the other collages. Please join us and post your collage for us to see.

That's all for now.

Live life fully and enjoy.
