Welcome to EarlK Design!

The EarlK Design blog consists mainly of entries that show how to do things using Adobe Photoshop that I hope you will find helpful and give your creative mind more tools to work with.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS6, and sometimes Adobe Illustrator CS5, Lightroom 5, and Corel Painter X. However, I believe that much of what I show can be done using Photoshop Elements.

Collage Obsession . . . 27 January 2014 . . . Bridge

For this week's Collage Obsession challenge, *itKuPiLLi* gave us this:

The challenge for this week is "Bridge" or "Bridges" if you like, you can express the word literally or metaphorically. Use the  photo of  Manhattan Bridge (1909).

Here is what I did for the challenge.

I used the 1909 image of the Manhattan Bridge under construction. I duplicated the bridge image and joined the images to give me a longer bridge. I used a lot of symbols to represent the New York spirit. The images were obtained from the Internet.

That's all for now.

Texture Tuesday and Collage Obsession . . . . . . . . . . 21 January 2014

Kim Klassen says, "Welcome to another Free & Easy Texture Tuesday."

And, for Collage Obsession, Tiffany gave us . . .

Please create something that celebrates Radiant Orchid as the main color or an accent color.

For my entry, I used Radiant Orchid and tints of it for my layout. The elements I used are of my creation, EarlK Design. You can see how to do them here in earlier posts to this blog. I used two of Kim Klassen's textures, kk_steelmagic and kk_grungedupmagic.

Please go to Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen and to Collage Obsession to see the other wonderful entries. Also, please join us with your creations. We would love to see them.

That's all for now.

Live life fully.

Collage Obsession . . . 12 January 2014 . . . Frozen

The challenge for this week was given to us by Sherry. It was

Your collage for this week should incorporate the image or concept of ice, frost, snow, cold, winter, white, etc. (Brrrrr.) Your art can be realistic, whimsical, spooky, silly, or serious--whatever effect you'd like, as long as it makes us shiver with cold!

Here is my collage for this week.

The large swirly flower, the old man, and the penguins are from the weekly Dover freebies. The rest are my creations.

I used a method shown by Mark S. Johnson to make my freezing rain streaks. I used the pen tool to create the path along which the snow flakes are falling and used a brush star to follow the path. I also used the pen tool to create the path for the border of stars.

That's it for now.

Live life fully.
