Welcome to EarlK Design!

The EarlK Design blog consists mainly of entries that show how to do things using Adobe Photoshop that I hope you will find helpful and give your creative mind more tools to work with.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS6, and sometimes Adobe Illustrator CS5, Lightroom 5, and Corel Painter X. However, I believe that much of what I show can be done using Photoshop Elements.

Texture Tuesday…2 September 2014…Free & Easy

Continuing with my 1950s photographs for Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen. In the Spring of 1955, I went to Marken Island, in the Netherlands. At this time it was an island in the Zuiderzee. Nowadays, it is connected to the mainland by a causeway. But in 1955, I took the ferry boat that took you to Marken Island. That is me sitting at the back of the ferry boat in the lower photo. Marken is well known for its characteristic wooden houses. The small fishing town was a relic of the traditional native culture. It appeared to be wash day the day I was there. The laundry was being hung on the clothes line. I wandered around the island to see the interesting houses and to meet a few of the interesting people who lived on the island.

These are the two photos that I used for this Texture Tuesday.

And, this is what I ended with.

I used Kim's textures kk_breakfree and kk_warmsun for the layout.

To see how I made the sketches, you can visit my blog entry of 20 May 2014.

That's all for now.
